Music has been a part of my life since the age of five, when my parents discovered I could play by ear. I took piano lessons up until the age of 12, and started playing piano for church worship. I also played flute for band from the age of 12, up through high school, where I played keyboard for various things, such as jazz band and a school musical. I went to Northwest College (now Northwest University), and earned a bachelor's degree in Church Music, with an emphasis in Conducting. I also met my husband at Northwest, and we married a few months after graduating. We moved to Gresham, Oregon, where we were blessed to find Living Word Fellowship. Our heart is with this church. John and I have worked with the children's choir since 2000, and I have directed the church choir since 2004. Choir is so much fun, and I am always amazed that I can wave my arms at the choir, and get such an amazing sound out of them! Music is my favorite way to honor our Lord. It is a passion God instilled in me at a very young age, and I love to pass it on through choir and teaching. I am blessed to be able to teach piano from my home, and to get to be a full-time mom for my two beautiful children. |

The return of fall and the school year signals the start of Christmas choir!
Adult Christmas Choir
We will be singing a variety of traditional and modern Christmas carols in a variety of musical settings. There will be something for everyone to enjoy! Practices are held on Sunday afternoons from 4:30 - 5:30 pm. Our performance date is December 19th at 10:45 am. This choir will also sing a few carols in the evening service, just before the Children's Musical.
Children's Christmas Musical
This year's Christmas production is called "Miracle on Main Street: The Little Pageant That Wouldn't Give Up!" Today more and more communities are struggling with the word "Christmas." Where mangers once stood and carols were sung, Christ is continuing to be dropped in favor of "holiday" celebrations. This enlightening children's musical reaches directly to the heart of this matter, and from the voices of children comes the ultimate truth - a Christmas without Jesus is like giving a present with no gift inside.
You won't want to miss this one! Practices are held on Sunday evenings from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. This musical involves children, teens and adults. Our performance date is December 19th at 6:00 pm.
Anyone wanting to help out or to be involved in either of these choirs, please contact Ellen Menaker at (503) 663-3366.
